January's theme: Power and Discomfort Jan 14: Whomever You Love: Polyamory Guest Speaker: Liz James - Mirth and Dignity Music: Susanne and Friends At Liz James’ first UU Service, the worship leader said, “We welcome you as you are. With your doubts as well as your convictions. With your hopes, and your fears. Whatever your faith, whatever your heritage, whomever you love.” She wondered if that meant her family, too. Come hear about polyamory and Unitarian Universalism -- the challenges, the wonderful moments, and the tremendous opportunity.
Dates: Every Sunday - Oct 8, 15, 29 /November 5, 12, 19, 26/ Dec 3 Based on the assumption that everyone is their own theologian, this classic UU adult education program invites us to develop our own personal credos, the fundamental religious beliefs, values and convictions that inform and direct the living of our lives. Join Rev. Pat for eight workshops that explore the developmental tasks required to become a mature religious being. You’ll search for what is true in your life. Through a combination of reflection, group discussion, study, and writing, you’ll examine your own spiritual history and articulate your own credo. How does your life experience inform your faith? Please note – this is not a “drop-in” class. It’s important to attend as regularly as possible, since they build on one another.

January's theme: Power and Discomfort Jan 21: No Contest Speaker: Rev Lynn Harrison Music: Eve Goldberg The desire for power and "winning" is a familiar theme in our world, not only in international conflicts but in our personal relationships and careers. How would our lives change if we took down the ladders of competition that have so preoccupied us? This can be part of UU "8th Principle" work as well our own spiritual growth. Working alongside musical colleague Eve Goldberg, Rev. Lynn Harrison reflects on the subject of competition and power, drawing on spiritual teachers such as Thich Nhat Hanh and others. Bio: Rev. Lynn Harrison was ordained at Neighbourhood UU Congregation in 2015 after receiving her Master of Divinity degree from Emmanuel College at the University of Toronto. She served on the ministry team of First Unitarian Congregation of Toronto from 2016 to 2023 and currently provides guest ministry for several Unitarian congregations throughout southern Ontario. She is also a recognized singer-songwriter who has performed widely throughout Canada and the U.S. She released her seventh solo album, _Treasure,_ in 2023.
