Unitarian-Universalists believe that all persons -
regardless of faith, religious background, belief system, or gender -
are free to celebrate important events in their lives by choosing ceremonies reflective of their situation.

Our Lay Chaplains, licensed by the province of Ontario, can help you create meaningful, heartwarming, and memorable celebrations respecting your beliefs, personal choices, and traditions. Our services are available to everyone; you do not need to be a member of our congregation.  At the Neighbourhood Unitarian Universalist Congregation, you and your family can find solace in knowing that we are available to provide spiritual and religious ceremonies to mark important Rites of Passage.

Ceremonies offered by the Lay Chaplains include:

Funerals and Memorial Services
Weddings
Commitment Ceremonies
Rededication of Vows
Child Naming and Dedication Ceremonies
House Blessings
Endings and Beginnings

Note: Wedding ceremonies officiated in Ontario, regardless of gender pairing, are legally official.

Creating a Ceremony
As you make the decision to have a Rite of Passage - whether it is a wedding, child naming, funeral or memorial service we understand the need for personalizing such an important event.

A Lay Chaplain will work closely with you to create a service that is tailored to your wants and needs, drawing from all traditions. You will be able to openly discuss details such as: timing, involvement of others, and choices for readings, meditations or prayers. The ceremony can be as spiritual, traditional or contemporary as you wish.

Where to Have Your Rite of Passage
We would be pleased to consider a location of your choosing such as: a private home, an outdoor setting such as a garden, or a public place. The ceremony can be performed where you are most at home.

If you wish to use our space, the Neighbourhood Congregation has a beautiful sanctuary that can accommodate up to 200 people. For rental information, please call and leave a message, 416-686-6809 or contact us by email nuuc@bellnet.ca    We are centrally located near Coxwell and Gerrard with ample parking and a fully equipped kitchen available.
