Experience the Rainforest and Mayan culture! On the southeast coast of the Yucatan Peninsula in
Central America, Belize borders Guatemala, Mexico and the Caribbean Sea.
What makes this journey special? Rev. Wayne Walder
will lead meditations every day. We値l have many locations to choose from
in this beautiful country. Instead of going from one thing to another
quickly, we値l pause and have time to soak up the atmosphere. At the end
of the day we値l join together and reflect on what we have seen and
experienced that day. Meditation and reflections are optional of course,
but we have found that on other trips, they have provided profound
experiences for many. Our journey was customized especially for us by
Worldwide Quest. It goes without saying that travelling with Unitarians is
always something very special. It値l warm your soul.

Our home for seven nights is in the heart of the Mayan
world, San Ignacio in the Cayo District. Our hotel sits above the village,
where we値l have spectacular panoramic views of the Belize River Valley
and Maya Mountains. The hotel has pools and gardens for your relaxing
pleasure. All Cabanas have private bath, air
conditioning, cable television and a screened veranda. (See pictures
here) Every day we will
have an excursion. We値l experience Maya ruins, and caves amid
rainforest canopies. One day we will canoe through a cave. On another,
swim in a beautiful natural pool by a waterfall. We'll learn the Mayan
culture, including uses of medicinal herbs.

Luis, a certified
naturalist guide, will accompany us on all excursions, pointing out
the intriguing flora and fauna. He will also impart his expert
knowledge on Mayan architecture and culture. |

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Level of
Difficulty: This tour is classified as
moderate. We will be walking on trails that are mostly well
maintained but will have some slippery and steep sections that follow
the contours. Sturdy walking shoes and perhaps a trekking pole for
extra balance would be an asset.
Transportation
We will travel in a comfortable mini-bus
to our various activities. Note that some roads in the rainforest will
be dirt/gravel.
